Two hurt in Canterbury plane crash

Two people have been injured after a plane crash north of Christchurch this evening.

A police spokesman said a small Tomahawk plane crashed into a paddock at Burnt Hill, near Oxford in North Canterbury, about 6.15pm.

The two people on board suffered leg injuries in the crash, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

A rescue helicopter had been sent to the crash site, the spokesman said.

Firefighters and police were also in attendance.
