Five fire engines are battling a blaze at a two-storey house in Nelson.

A fire communications spokesman said they were alerted to the fire in the Leicester St building in Stoke just after 4.30pm.

Firefighters were using an "external attack only" approach, where they would not put any firefighting crews into the building itself, the spokesman said.

There were no indications anyone was in the house, he said.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
