Two die in Far North, Rotorua crashes

A man has been killed this morning when his car rolled in the Far North.
The rolled car was found shortly after by another motorist and police were alerted to the crash about 9am.
The location on Paranui Rd in Taipa was remote so there would not be disruption to traffic, police said.
Family members are reported to have arrived and a scene examination was under way.
Meanwhile, a man is dead and another is in serious condition after a head on crash near Rotorua early this morning.
The crash happened on State Highway 5 between Rotorua and Taupo at 7.40am.
The 66-year-old man, a driver of one vehicles, was was killed, while 36-year-old man driving the second vehicle was transported by helicopter to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
Bay of Plenty road policing manager Fane Troy said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
"Police will be looking at the environment, vehicles and drivers to see what factors, if any, they contributed to the crash."
At the time of the crash the weather and road conditions were fine.
The Rotorua Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
