A woman in her twenties was airlifted to Waikato Hospital tonight after a light truck rolled off a road near Taupo.
The crash happened on State Highway 5 at Opepe, 10 kilometres from Taupo. It is not yet clear whether the woman was the driver or a passenger. No other vehicles were involved.
The injured woman was trapped in the truck and was cut from the wreck an hour after emergency services arrived. She was transported in Taupo’s Greenlea Rescue Helicopter with multiple leg fractures, dislocations and spinal injuries.
