Power cut hits homes, traffic lights
A power cut in South Auckland this morning left more than 1000 customers in the dark and traffic lights out.
The 7.30am outage affected customers in the Otara area, a Vector spokeswoman said.
Power was restored about 8.30am, she said.
Police received a number of emergency calls from residents in the affected area.
Sergeant Dave Frew said police were directing traffic at the intersection of Preston Rd and Ferguson Rd for about half an hour.
Other traffic lights in the area were affected, but only for a short time.
Frew said there were no reports of any crashes as a result of the traffic light outages.
