Police have confirmed a body found on a remote West Coast beach last week is that of missing Christchurch man Kurt Green.
The 30-year-old's body was found on Rapahoe Beach, north of Greymouth, on Wednesday last week.
He was found by a search and rescue team after a member of the public alerted police to the possibility of human remains in the area.
Green had been missing since March 9, when he was last seen in the Blaketown beach area.
West Coast police area commander Inspector John Canning said Green's family was notified on Friday that the body had been identified.
"It's very sad for the family but at least they do know what became of him."
The death has been referred to the coroner.
