A man in his 50s is in a serious condition in Wellington Hospital after the vehicle he was a passenger in hit a bus stop.
The crash happened about 2am on Akatarawa Rd in Upper Hutt this morning and the woman driver was uninjured, a police central communications spokesman said.
The Westpac rescue helicopter transported the man to Wellington Hospital where he is in intensive care.
Meanwhile, two teenagers are injured after the van they were in crashed in to a power pole in Lower Hutt this morning.
The crash in Reynolds St, Taita, happened at 8.30am and a 17-year-old male with moderate arm injuries and a 16-year-old female with moderate leg injuries were taken to Hutt Hospital.
Central police communications acting Inspector Bruce Mackay said the occupants of the van initially took off but were stopped by the public until police arrived.
It is unknown who was driving and whether speed or alcohol may have been a factor.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
