Winning second place in an international competition made a 29-hour flight more than worth it for an up-and-coming Hamilton model.
Hannah Moulden, 17, was one of 50 selected for Top Model Worldwide, a leading international model search held in London this month.
Moulden, who competed against girls from as far afield as Sweden and South Africa, was named first runnerup during the finale at the Hilton London Metropole on April 5. "It was an amazing opportunity, [and] I came away with a place."
The grand final included a choreographed, professionally produced three-hour runway show where Moulden first took to the catwalk in a floor-length, strapless Serap Pollard dress.
Later, she showed her Kiwi roots clutching a soft-toy sheep during the lingerie and beach round and finished in a delicate white Omar Mansoor dress with a detailed bust.
Moulden said her second place finish exceeded her expectations.
