Autopsies have been completed on three Southland sheep farmers killed in a horrific crash on a rural Southland road, but police are not ready to release the results.
Constable Clint Wright, of Gore, said they were still building a complete picture of what happened for the families of the dead men.
Ewan Christie, 59, Matthew McKee, 39, and Christopher Simpson, 39, all died at the scene when the Toyota Hilux they were travelling in left Riversdale-Waikaia Rd and slammed into a bridge before midnight on April 25.
Wright said the focus of the investigation had now turned to the vehicle.
A forensic team would work on the Toyota Hilux to try to establish who was driving and whether seatbelts had been worn.
Police were also trying to establish what happened leading up to the crash and whether speed or alcohol were factors.
They were piecing together exactly when the farmers were at the Waikaia Hotel and how long they were there for.
