Christchurch's Re:Start container mall just got bigger and better.
Work started on expanding the mall in early June with several containers from the southern part of the mall being moved into the new northwest precinct to make way for a building development.
The new precinct opened this weekend and includes new retail and food shops.
Re:Start director Paul Lonsdale said organisers had wanted to expand the mall for some time and chose an area near the former Shades Arcade as the best location.
He hoped the expansion would increase the number of options for visitors.
