Christchurch children are sharing their perspective on post-earthquake life.

Run by Unicef NZ, the Christchurch: See Through My Eyes photography exhibition involved 11 to 13-year-old children from 17 schools affected by the earthquake.

The exhibition aims to show children's view of life after the disaster.

The children took part in a training workshop with a professional photographer in September, then went away to take photographs in their own time over two weeks. The best were chosen for the show.

Unicef spokeswoman Ella Anselmi said the children loved being a part of the project. "They liked the idea that they got to take their own photos of what has happened in Christchurch, and then got to show others.

"They could go out and just say 'Hey this is what happened in my life'."

The exhibition opened at the Canterbury Museum yesterday.

The photos will be on display until January 27 in the visitors' lounge at the museum. The exhibition will then move to Wellington.
