A Christchurch man has created a digital map that pinpoints spots around the world that marked yesterday's anniversary of the February 22, 2011 earthquake.
Seth Gorrie, of Avonside, created a story map application using photographs shared on social media.
He told online quake photo forum Chch EQ Photos he thought it was "very touching for those now living abroad to see everyone back home banding together to commemorate 3 years since the February 2011 earthquake."
"With a lot of media and social media posting pics inspired by Henry [Sunderland]'s road cone memorial I thought I would share this story map that I put together based on#chcheq #chch tagged pictures throughout today," he said.
Tributes featured are mainly from Christchurch, but also include decorated road cones in Wellington, Auckland, Melbourne and at Scott Base in Antarctica.
Ex-pats who are commemorating the third anniversary of the disaster are encouraged to send their photos to Gorrie, who will continue to update the map as those in different time zones pause to remember.
