Father, son charged after Auckland shooting
A fatal shooting in Ranui was sparked by a dispute between neighbours, police say.
Josh Wayne Roach, 23, was shot and killed in a shared driveway yesterday, while a second man was seriously injured.
A father and his teenage son have appeared in court charged with possession of an unlawful weapon after the fatal shooting in West Auckland.
Allen George Lum, 41, was remanded in custody while his son, Trae Lorenz Lum, 18, was granted bail at a hearing at Waitakere District Court today.
Detective Inspector Bruce Scott, of the Waitemata police, said Roach lived in the house close to where his body was found.
"It appears to be the result of a dispute between neighbours."
Police have been interviewing associates of the men and going door-to-door in the neighbourhood.
The shootings in Ranui were the community's second violent killing in three days.
Coincidentally, the two men who appeared in court lived in Pooks Rd, where a mother and daughter were stabbed to death two days before the shooting.
A man who lived with the women has been charged with their murders
The incidents are not related.
Friends and family have paid tribute to Roach.
Ricky Lum, 20, was in a critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery at Auckland Hospital last night.
Ricky Lum is the son of Allen Lum.
A large group of supporters packed the courtroom to see the two men appear.
Allen and Trae Lum will reappear on Wednesday.
