A man has been shot at after chasing burglars from his home in Auckland.

Two men entered a house in Cortina Place, Pakuranga, at 3am today, armed with what police believe to be a knife.

A female occupant was assaulted before a man from the address chased the burglars out.

At that point one of them produced what is thought to be a shotgun and fired it. No-one was injured.

Police want to talk to anyone with information about the burglary.   They are asked to call Manukau Police District Command Centre on 09 261 1300.
