A prisoner who escaped from the Gore District Court this week, sparking a police hunt, has been recaptured.

Police located Rory Damien Partridge, 23, at an East Gore address at 12.30pm today after receiving information that he was still in the Gore area.

He was apprehended and placed into custody without further incident.

The man, clad in prison overalls, had made a dash for freedom out the backdoor of the court on Wednseday, successfully dodging security, police said.

He had been appearing in court on charges relating to burglary and being disqualified while driving.

The police thanked members of the public that provided information or contacted them in relation to this matter.
