Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a large amount of cannabis by police responding to an armed incident in Waikanae this morning. 

Senior sergeant Anita Dixon said police are still searching for a 43-year-old man and the gun that was used in the incident, but do not believe there is any threat to the public. 

''One male [was] threatened with a pistol by two others. ''While completing searches looking for the outstanding male, a large amount of cannabis has been located and seized from an address,'' Dixon said.

Both men arrested are from Kapiti. A 63-year-old was charged with firearms offence, while a 46-year-old was facing cannabis charges and will appear in Porirua District Court tomorrow.
