A 48-year-old woman has been arrested and will face firearms charges after a domestic incident in Richmond, Christchurch. 

Christchurch police were called to the incident at about 1.20pm in response to reports that a firearm had been used to threaten a female at the address. 

The Armed Offenders Squad was deployed and the area blocked off.

Two people inside the house were apprehended by police without further incident and a firearm was located in a subsequent search. The woman was been arrested and will face firearms related charges.

A number of witnesses are assisting police with their enquiries.
