A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a Subway in Hamilton and a Postshop in Whangarei.

The man went into the Subway on Greenwood St in Hamilton about 7.30pm on Saturday, demanding money and telling staff he had a firearm, said police. After being handed some cash, the man ran off.

The man has also been charged with the aggravated robbery of a NZ Postshop in Whangarei on Thursday.

Police say they still want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of the Greenwood St Subway at the time of the robbery – they can call Hamilton Police or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
