Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man's body was found in Papatoetoe tonight.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said police were called to the Norman Spencer Drive location at about 7.45pm where the man's body was found in a parked vehicle.

Police are speaking to the man's partner who is believed to have witnessed events leading up to this death.

The investigation will be known as Operation Bastille, police said.
