Several police officers are talking to witnesses on Lincoln Rd following an alleged assault.

A Christchurch police spokesman said four staff had been dealing with the incident since about 10am at the Moorhouse Ave end of Lincoln Rd, near Burger King.

He said it was unclear exactly who was involved in the altercation, but police were working to find out.

He said a taxi driver witnessed the incident and called it into police.
