A Dunedin woman robbed a convenience store and Subway before attempting to make her getaway on a child's scooter, police say.

The 31-year-old woman was quickly captured and taken into custody.

The robberies occurred at 9.40pm and 10pm last night at the Night n' Day store in the Octagon and Subway on George Street.

In the first incident a small number of groceries were taken, and in the second a small amount of cash, police said.

No one was injured during either robbery.

Police said community patrols, Campus Watch and local taxi staff all helped in the search for the woman, which was aided by the use of CCTV images.

No one else was being sought in relation to the robberies.
