A Gisborne man was arrested by the armed offenders squad this morning after he allegedly threatened to harm his partner and himself.

Police were called to an Ormond Rd address by the man's partner about 10.30am, acting Senior Sergeant Dave Walker said.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and was likely to face charges of threatening behaviour or language.

His partner and a four-year-old child in the house were safe and well, Mr Walker said.
