Further charges have been laid against an Auckland actor who police allege engineered a real-life shootout when he made a false domestic violence complaint.
Rob Mokaraka, 36, was shot in the chest outside a house in Pt Chevalier in July after allegedly lunging at police with knives and a meat cleaver.
He was due to appear at Auckland District Court this morning to face one count of possession of an offensive weapon and another of assault with a weapon.
Mokaraka is still in hospital and produced a medical certificate to excuse his absence at today's hearing.
Two new charges were laid today by police. They were: threatening to kill and using an imitation firearm to prevent arrest.
Mokaraka's next court appearance is set for September 23.
