Recordings of electronically-intercepted conversations of the younger accused was played today at the murder trial of two teenage girls.

Courtney Churchward, 18, and a 15-year-old, whose name is suppressed, have pleaded not guilty in the High Court in Rotorua to murdering John Rowe at his Opotiki home on November 25 last year.

This morning the jury heard further recording of intercepted conversations in the 15-year-old's bedroom.

Fenny Horne, mother of Churchward's "on and off" boyfriend, said in evidence Churchward came to stay at her Auckland home last December.

She was quiet, seemed jumpy and was not really herself, Ms Horne said.

"When the cops came past she would just stay inside."

Mrs Horne said she told Churchward she had heard her DNA had been found, to which Churchward replied: " Oh, it wasn't me."

Cross-examined by Churchward's counsel, Paul Mabey QC, she agreed Churchward had said something like "It is all good if the police come, I am going to get in their car and go with them."

Proceeding.
