Homicide inquiry as body found near Port Chalmers

The body of a man has been discovered near Port Chalmers, sparking a police homicide inquiry.
Police said a member of the public found the body off a track in the area known as Scott Memorial on Blueskin Road, an area popular as a lookout.
"It is apparent that the deceased man died by violent means and consequently a homicide inquiry has commenced," police said.
The victim was a Caucasian male around 30 years of age who was wearing a grey-hooded jacket, light blue polar fleece pants with grey shorts on the outside.
A grey vehicle was located in the car park immediately below the scene, police said.
