A man who allegedly stole a family's Christmas presents was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Saturday.
The 26-year-old man allegedly took Santa sacks containing gifts for two young girls staying with their parents at the Meadow Park holiday camp on Christmas morning.
He will reappear today.
Sergeant Jason Stewart, of the Papanui police, said the family's stolen car had not been found.
He asked that anyone with information about a Mazda Familia, registration YN6144, contact Sergeant Mike Brooklands, of the Papanui police.
