Teen charged after sister fatally stabbed
A Northland teenager may face further charges after her 30-year-old sister died following a domestic dispute in Ruakaka, south of Whangarei, last night.
The victim died as police tried to keep her alive after she was stabbed at a Ruakaka house about 9pm.
Her 15-year-old sister was charged with assault but police said they would decide on other charges after the post mortem and scene examination of the Ruakaka house were completed.
Ambulance officers joined police in the battle to save her life but she died at the scene.
The victim is yet to be formally identified and has not been named.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dene Begbie said it was too soon to say what other charges the teenager could face.
"We really need the benefit of both our scene examination and the post-mortem examination," he said.
The scene examination was still happening and police would speak to anyone who was at the address.
The teen is due to appear in the Whangarei Youth Court tomorrow.
