Woman driver charged over texting while speeding
A woman has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly texting while reaching at speeds of up to 140kph.
The 25-year-old was too busy messaging her friends to notice a patrol car following her, Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken told the Otago Daily Times.
The woman was spotted by a marked patrol car crossing the centre line on State Highway 1 between Waikouaiti and Dunedin, Ms Aitken said.
She was also clocked at speeds up to 140kph.
The driver was pulled over where she admitted she had been texting a friend.
She is due to appear in Dunedin District Court this month.
