An 18-year-old Christchurch man has been charged over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl at a Nelson motor camp on December 29.
The girl was heavily drunk at the Maitai Valley Motor Camp, which attracts huge crowds of youths each year to see in the New Year, and her friends put her to bed in her tent, police said. The alleged rape occurred about 10.30pm.
The young woman was injured and taken to hospital.
An 18-year-old has been remanded on bail to appear in Nelson District Court on January 29.
