Three youths wearing bandanas and brandishing pistols and an iron bar robbed a superette in the Waikato township of Huntly last night.

Senior Sergeant Pete Simpson said the trio entered the Pricecutter in Bridge St about 7.45pm and demanded cash from the store owner, before running off towards the Waikato River.

Police stopped two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old in a car a short time later.

They were due to appear in Hamilton District Court today.
