The police armed offenders squad was called out in Dunedin early today after a man pulled out an air pistol during a dispute.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said police were called to an address in suburban Ravensbourne about 1.20am where a group of people had gathered and two men were arguing.
He said an air pistol was found on one of the men, a 29-year-old, who has been charged with a firearms offence and would appear in Dunedin District Court today.
