Armed robbers raided two Christchurch dairies within a kilometre of each other in quick succession this evening.
Sergeant Dean Murray, of Southern Police Communications, said at about 7pm the Aladdin Dairy on the corner of Barbadoes and Armagh St was robbed by a "couple of people in balaclavas".
About an hour later the Cashel Food Market on the corner of Fitzgerald Ave and Cashel St was also robbed.
Murray said it appeared the offenders were armed, but it was not clear if a firearm had been used. He said no-one was reported hurt in the incidents .
Detectives were reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.
