The funeral of a woman who was killed when her car was hit by a driver fleeing the police has been held in Christchurch.
Mourners gathered at Westpark Chapel in Wairakei Rd to pay their respects to Dee Jordan, a 67-year-old woman who died as a result of the crash in Fitzgerald Avenue on Thursday night.
Jordan's companion, Norm Fitt, was also killed in the collision.
The pair were active seniors who frequently participated in marathons and were regulars at a Ferrymead gymnasium.
They had won gold medals in the 60 to 70-years age group at the South Island masters aerobics competition.
Most mornings, Fitt and Jordan would go for a 10km run, then hit the gym in the evening for aerobics, step or weights.
At the time of the interview, Jordan told The Press that working out was about reaching personal goals. "It's not a competition. It's just for yourself."
"I'm very proud of my body and I love my body. You've got to feel good about yourself, " she said.
Phillip Bruce Bannan, 22, was charged with driving while disqualified in relation to the incident.
He was given a registrar's remand.
