There was no fairy-tale ending for Christchurch's 'Goldilocks' burglar, who was sentenced to nine months supervision today after being found fast asleep in a house she crept into.
In June a homeowner on Hills Rd, Christchurch, was surprised to find Vanessa Joy Long, 39, asleep in their bed.
Before dropping into a slumber the long-haired blonde had raided the fridge in the house, eaten some food, helped herself to some alcohol and then sampled the householders' clothes - even trying some on.
Tired after her exploits she took a little rest and was discovered when they returned.
However, unlike her fairy-tale doppelganger, Long did not make her escape, but was instead taken in by the police and charged with burglary.
Upon pleading guilty Somerville said she had blacked out and no idea what had happened.
Today Judge Christopher Somerville sentenced her to supervision and ordered her to pay $1255 reparation for soiling the bed.
Far from a fairy-tale ending.
