A black car may hold the key to an armed robbery in West Auckland yesterday which netted three masked men thousands of dollars.
Police have appealed for any sightings of the black vehicle in Lazurite Drive, Henderson, after it was seen speeding away from a stolen getaway car which the three robbers tried to torch.
At last two of the men were holding guns when they held up an Armourguard security van outside an ASB bank at the Westgate Shopping Centre in West Auckland shortly before 5pm.
No shots were fired and no-one was hurt but police said the three men may have fled in another getaway car after trying to torch the first car in Lazurite Dr.
"We would like anyone who has seen any suspicious activity in that area to contact us," said Detective Sergeant Pete Litherland.
