A 16-year-old Masterton boy who lost his cool with his 42-year-old lover took his rage out on his home and a patrol car, police say.

Officers were called early yesterday to a domestic dispute that had escalated into rocks being thrown at the side of house.

The teenager's female partner had allegedly been threatened.

After being arrested, the boy kicked out the back window of a patrol car, police said.

He will appear in Masterton Youth Court next week charged with intentional damage, disorderly behaviour and threatening to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teen has been granted bail - to live at his partner's house.
