A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Christchurch teenager Hayden Miles.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill said this afternoon that three people had been arrested and charged in relation to Miles' disappearance.
Miles, who has been missing for more than 15 weeks, would have turned 16 in October.
As well as the 27-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman has been charged with accessory to murder. Another 35-year-old man was also charged with robbery.
All three will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow.
Hill refused to say whether the three knew Miles or were linked to a Linwood property which has been subject of an extensive police forensic examination.
Police have yet to find Miles' body but are conducting a search at the Ruru Lawn Cemetery in Linwood.
Miles' family were told of the charges today, he said.
"They were clearly devastated when we told them."
Earlier this week police widened their search for Miles.
A forensic examination of the Linwood property Miles was last seen at has been under way for over a week days and a specialist search and rescue team joined the hunt.
The team also searched the surrounding area of the Cashel St property to try to determine what happened in and around the property on August 22, the last night Miles was seen.
Up to 200 properties in the neighbourhood were to be searched.
*An earlier version of this story reported that Miles was 18-years-old.
