Tauranga murder accused, victim named
The woman stabbed to death outside a property in the Tauranga suburb of Judea can now be named.
She was Robyn Anne Prole of Tauranga.
The 57-year-old was also known as Robyn Anne Phipps, detective senior sergeant Greg Turner said.
Prole's body was found outside a Bell St property in Judea on Friday. An autopsy confirmed she died of stab wounds, Turner said.
Rex Prole has been charged with her murder. He appeared in the Tauranga District Court on Saturday and name suppression for the 64-year-old was lifted at a court appearance today.
On Friday, police were called to a house on Bell St after a member of the public reported a dispute between a man and a woman.
When police arrived they found a woman's body lying by the driveway.
Rex Prole was arrested shortly after.
Police said a forensic examination of the scene was under way and was anticipated to be completed later today.
A post mortem was also being carried out in Auckland today.
Tauranga police were appealing for anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward.
Rex Prole is due to reappear in court on August 6.
