A violent brawl broke out at the High Court in Napier this morning.
Three men charged with grievous bodily harm appeared in the dock for a trial date to be set when one of them punched and spat at a security guard.
A fight then broke out between the three men, the security guard and prisoner officers.
The judge ordered the accused to be stood down.
Police are investigating.
