Cheerleader sex accused in court
A cheerleading coach charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl in his squad appeared in court yesterday.
Former executive director of Total Cheerleading, Nikola Michael Marinovich, appeared at a pre-trial hearing in the Auckland District Court on charges of doing an indecent act, attempting unlawful sexual connection and having unlawful sexual connection with one of his cheerleaders.
He is also charged with sexual violation of another young cheerleader.
Both girls have automatic name suppression because of the alleged crimes committed against them.
Marinovich, 25, has been remanded on bail until September, when a date for his trial will be set.
