Driver on 25th disqualified charge
A Christchurch man with 24 convictions for driving while disqualified has been caught again.
The Hoon Hay resident, 30, was caught at a police checkpoint in Curletts Rd about 8.30pm last Thursday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Scott Richardson said he had never heard of anyone with that many convictions for driving while disqualified.
"I've heard of people with 10 or 15. I've never struck someone with 24. It's horrendous."
He said the man allegedly provided his brother's details in an attempt to dupe police.
The man has been charged with driving while disqualified and giving false details.
He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday.
Richardson said the last time the man was caught four years ago he was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
