An 18-year-old man's throat was slashed with a knife during an early morning fight in Whangarei.
Police said the man was involved in a fight with two others in the CBD about 2.10am.
He is undergoing emergency surgery at Whangarei Hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.
A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the assault and will appear in the Whangarei District Court on Monday.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the assault to contact Whangarei Police Station on (09) 430 4500.
