A McDonald's manager has been convicted for punching, stomping and kicking a customer in the Queenstown restaurant.
Rishi Kumar, 34, a McDonald's duty manager, appeared before Judge Kevin Phillips today charged with assault with intent to injure.
The victim was inside the Camp St restaurant about 3am on August 30 and went into a roped-off area for staff members.
The manager told the victim to leave the restricted area and escorted him upstairs, but within seconds of being removed the victim returned to the area.
He walked up to the manager with his cellphone held out and pointing in the direction of the defendant.
The defendant grabbed the victim's right arm, swung him around and punched him in the face, the summary of facts said.
He pulled the victim to the floor and stomped on his torso using his right foot, then used his left foot for a ''football kick'' to the face.
He ripped the victim's cellphone from his hand and within minutes returned to mop blood from the floor, the summary said.
Judge Phillips declined an application for name suppression and remanded Kumar for sentence on October 23.
