Suspicious death in Manurewa
Police investigating the death of a man in South Auckland believe the man died as a result of head injuries.
The man's flatmate discovered the 55-year-old's body in a converted garage - which was used as a sleepout - shortly after 10am on Friday.
Police are treating the death as a homicide.
"Police confirm the death is the result of head injuries," spokesman Kevin Loughlin said.
"They believe the victim was attacked while in his sleepout."
Police are currently canvassing the area and are talking to residents.
Police are appealing for people who live in the vicinity of 217 Great South Rd who may have seen any suspicious behaviour on Thursday or Friday morning to call police on (09) 261 1300 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
