An aspiring All Black allegedly drove while disqualified twice in two months.
Benjamin Charles Tameifuna appeared in the Hastings District Court today on two charges of driving while disqualified.
The hefty Chiefs prop, who did not enter a plea to the charges, wore a polo shirt and shorts in the dock.
Police say he was caught driving on September 13 and October 25.
Tameifuna was part of the Chiefs Super Rugby winning team this year and trained with the All Blacks in the lead-up to the three tests against Ireland. At 138kg, he weighed in as the heaviest in the international training squad. However, he never took to the field.
Earlier this month, Tameifuna was dropped from the Hawke's Bay Magpies front row because he was believed to be overweight.
The Hastings Boys High School old boy played the first four games for the Magpies but didn't really feature again as the Magpies crashed out of the ITM Cup Premiership with 7 losses from 10 games.
He was remanded at large to reappear in Hastings District Court next month.
