A 34-year-old woman has died after allegedly being assaulted in a domestic dispute in Whangarei on Friday.
Police have named her as Patrica Anne McGrath of Whangarei.
McGrath was taken to Whangarei Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries after emergency services responded to a call in the suburb of Kamo on Friday night.
She died today.
A 32-year-old man appeared in the Whangarei District Court yesterday charged with assault in relation to the incident.
Police say an investigation is still underway and more serious charges may yet be laid.
The man was remanded in custody to appear on Monday January 21.
