Two men were stabbed in a street fight in Timaru.

Police said a 21-year-old and a 20-year-old were stabbed during a "fracas" on Church St, Timaru.

The 21-year-old collapsed, walked to Sophia St and collapsed again opposite The Sail and Anchor Bar and Cafe.

"He then suffered a further assault whilst being tended to by a member of the public," police said.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance with a "moderate, non-life threatening injury".

The 20-year-old admitted himself to hospital three hours later.

Two men, aged 19 and 25, and a woman aged 18, were arrested in connection with the assault.

The men were charged with assault, the woman with possession of a knife and possession of cannabis.
