A Napier woman has been charged with assault after the fatal stabbing of a 45-year-old man yesterday.
The man died in Hawke's Bay Hospital this morning. He was stabbed in what police believe was a domestic incident at a house in Geddis Ave, Maraenui, yesterday afternoon.
A 35-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault in relation to the incident. She will be appearing in the Napier District Court today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange of Hawke's Bay CIB said a full scene examination will continue at the house in the next day or so by police and ESR staff.
A forensic autopsy is expected to be carried out tomorrow to establish the cause of the man's death.
Several witnesses are expected to be interviewed during the next few days to establish what had occurred at the house at the weekend, de Lange said.
The name of the dead man will not be released until all family have been notified.
