Police are hunting a man while two others are due in court today charged with assault following the death of a man at an Auckland house last night.
Police northern communications centre Inspector Willie Taylor said police were alerted at 7.34pm about an assault at a property in Mt Albert Rd, Three Kings.
"We were told an ambulance was urgently required at the address," he said.
A minute later police received another call saying the man, Michael Roberts, 48, was "lying on the ground" inside the house.
Taylor said police arrived at the scene about 7.46pm, about the same time St John ambulance staff arrived.
Roberts, who Taylor said was known to "suffer from ill health", died at the scene about 7pm.
An autopsy to determine his cause of death is being completed this morning.
Police said the death was so far being treated as unexplained.
A 19-year-old and a 36-year-old will appear in the Auckland District Court today.
A third man believed to have been involved in the incident is still being sought.
The 19-year-old was arrested at a Westmere address and the other man in nearby Grey Lynn, police said.
Police and forensic experts are today examining Roberts' home as well as a vehicle believed to have been used by the accused that was recovered from the property in Larchwood Ave, Westmere.
