An Upper Hutt man who allegedly threatened to reveal naked photographs belonging to an 11-year-old girl if she didn't keep talking to him on Facebook has been ordered not to use the internet.

The 20-year-old man, accused of setting up a fake profile on the social media site under the name Nick Davis and sending inappropriate messages to teenage girls, stood silently with his head bowed when he appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court this morning.

He entered no plea to charges of threatening to disclose naked photos belonging to an 11-year-old girl to obtain a benefit namely continued communication, and travelling with the intent to commit a crime.

Judge Ian Mill granted the man interim name suppression and ordered him not use the internet or to contact any of the complainants.

He was remanded on bail to appear in the court again next month.
